Mutual Security Credit Union (MSCU) proudly celebrated its official designation as a Juntos Avanzamos credit union with a vibrant community event held at its Norwalk branch. The designation — which translates to “Together We Advance” — recognizes credit unions committed to serving and empowering Hispanic and Latino communities through inclusive financial products, services, and outreach.

The celebration began with a ceremonial raising of the Juntos Avanzamos flag, symbolizing MSCU’s pledge to foster financial inclusion and opportunity. Remarks were shared by MSCU President & CEO Henry Baum, as well as Connecticut State Treasurer Erick Russell and Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff, underscoring the importance of building trust and expanding access to financial services for Hispanic/Latino families.

Silvia Rincon, COO, Inclusiv, the national organization behind the Juntos Avanzamos initiative, presented MSCU with an official certificate recognizing this milestone. As part of the celebration and in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Hank Baum also presented a $1,000 donation to Reverend Sara Smith, CEO and founder of nOURish in Bridgeport, reinforcing its commitment to supporting local community organizations. Silvia and Sara each made a brief commentary on the impact of financial empowerment and community support, highlighting how partnerships like this help create pathways to economic opportunity for Hispanic and Latino families.

“Achieving the Juntos Avanzamos designation reflects our deep commitment to empowering the communities we serve,” said Hank Baum, President & CEO of MSCU. “We are proud to be part of this movement and will continue to ensure our products, services, and staff reflect the diversity and needs of our membership.”
