We recently had the pleasure of hosting an incredibly successful Financial Reality Fair, where students dived into the exciting—and sometimes challenging—world of budgeting, financial planning, and making real-world money decisions. It was an event filled with learning, discovery, and a lot of hands-on experience in managing finances.

What is a Financial Reality Fair?

A Financial Reality Fair is a unique, interactive event that helps students understand the key principles of personal finance. From creating budgets to making decisions about spending and saving, the fair gave students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to manage their own financial future. The event is designed to be fun and engaging, all while teaching important life skills that will serve them well as they move forward in life.

This year, we were honored to partner with the University of Bridgeport, who graciously hosted the event, providing a perfect space for students to engage with our financial experts. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the schools who participated, including Francis T. Maloney High School and the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering. Their students truly embraced the event, demonstrating enthusiasm and a genuine interest in learning about managing money in the real world.

We would also like to give a special shoutout to our amazing volunteers and MSCU's new Financial Reality Fair team—Cathy Verrilli, Erica Moore, and Crystal Hernandez. Their dedication, expertise, and hard work were vital in making this event a success. We are so grateful for the time and effort they put into ensuring everything ran smoothly and that students walked away with valuable financial knowledge.
