Celebrating Black History Month

SHARE

In honor of Black History Month, MSCU is partnering with organizations that directly impact underserved communities, particularly EMERGE, which focuses efforts on reducing recidivism throughout Connecticut, and the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport, which offers a variety of programs that address the educational, recreational, cultural, and social needs of moderate and low-income families and young people.

EMERGE, New Haven

This week, MSCU team members paid a visit to EMERGE Connecticut, an organization based in New Haven that is committed to assisting formerly incarcerated people in successfully integrating back into their families and communities.

After touring the facility and learning more about the success stories that have come out of EMERGE, our CEO Hank Baum and Community Impact Officer Lillie Davis delivered a check of $1,000 for the organization to continue supporting individuals and families impacted by incarceration and expand their efforts and reach throughout the state.

Cardinal Shehan Center, Bridgeport

The Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport is committed to "Enriching Lives Through Learning," offering a clean, safe environment where positive, growth-enhancing opportunities are offered regardless of race or religious affiliation.

Our COO Jeffrey Tracey along with Community Impact Officer Lillie Davis also delivered a $1,000 check to the center this week, which will help fund the programs and activities the organization provides to community members.

This Black History Month, we are proud to partner with organizations that are making a direct, tangible impact in the areas we serve, and look forward to more opportunities to invest in underserved communities.
